Bukidomino (also Bookie domino or Booky domino) is a gambling with money employment, that in Vienna at the beginning 20. Century one played much.

The expiration of such a portion is described in the novel between nine and nine by Leo Perutz. The following description relies on the references given in Perutz' novel.

Four players play a portion "“normal domino"”, meant are probably a block domino for four persons: The stones of a six-he domino are covered mixed and distributed; a player begins, the remaining players puts on successively ever a stone. Who cannot put on, must suspend. Who put on first all stones, is winner.

Before each play round also the spectators (the Galeristen) on one of the four active players can set beside the players involved (quotation: "“as on running horses"”). These bets are locked with the play leader, the Buki.

The designation Buki is derived from English Bookie (rare Booky written), the abbreviation for Bookmaker. Around 1900 the English designation Bookmaker was common, the eingedeutschte designation bookmaker became generally accepted only later in horse racing. The connection to the horse bet will in Perutz' novel on the one hand by the reference quoted above clearly, on the other hand lets to Perutz this episode in the Turf play.

If the player wins, on whom one set, then one receives three-way money"” from the Buki "“. How from Perutz' description follows clearly, with it a profit margin of 2:1 is meant: After it possesses Stanislaus Demba, which set and won main figure of the novel, 10 crowns, 30 crowns, its profit amounts to therefore only 20 crowns. Then it leaves employment and profit untouched - it puts "“money on money"” - and wins again, whereby its fortune increases to 90 crowns. After a further profit it possesses 270 crowns and by the Buki around the profit and the original employment is then bounced.

Since the Buki in the case of a profit only one ratio of 2:1, in place of which fair ratio of 3:1 pays, it wins on the average 25% of the transacted employments.
