Craps or Craps shooting or Seven - Eleven is a cube play, which enjoys particularly in the USA of large popularity. Craps is a simplification of the old-English play Hazard.

The rules of the private play

The basic rules

A player, the so-called Shooter, sets a certain amount (the Banco), the other players, the Faders, sets against it. If the employments are made, then the Shooter throws two cubes.

The Shooter in the first throw throws

  • , then he has the eye sum 7 or 11 a Natural and wins immediately.
  • the eye sum 2, 3 or 12, then is this a Crap and it loses immediately.
  • the eye sum 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, then is the geworfenene eye sum its POINT, and the Shooter a further mark.

Starting from the second throw applies:

  • If the Shooter throws the same eye sum as thus in the first throw, its POINT, then it wins.
  • If the Shooter throws the eye sum 7, then it loses ("“filters - from the play"”).
  • If it throws any other eye sum, then it a further mark.

If the Shooter wins, then it may keep and further-play the cubes; it may not take then however out of the bank profits. If the Shooter loses, because it threw a Crap in the first throw, then it - if it would like - may likewise the cubes keep and a new Banco put. The Shooter can pass however the cubes on also at its right neighbours.

If the Shooter loses a sieving by the throw, then it must pass the cubes on at its right neighbours.

Further rules and additions

With the Craps it is usual to throw the cubes with the hand against a wall cups is not used. Craps cubes are red, transparent and have sharp edges and corners (are thus not rounded off), the eyes are represented by large white full circles.

The Shooter is over the Faders in the disadvantage, the advantage of the Faders amounts to approx. 1.4%.

If the Faders sets altogether less than the Banco, then the Shooter may take the balance out.

Set the Faders altogether a high amount than the current sum, then can the Shooter, if he like, the balance in the Banco bring in and the play in full height hold. If the Shooter does not want to increase the Banco however, then the employments apply in accordance with the following rule

  • If it is the first play of the Shooters, then applies first the employment of that player, who had to deliver the straight cubes, and then the employments of the players to rights of the Shooters up to reaching the amount of bank.

  • If the Shooter won a straight play, then first the employment of that player, who transacted the highest employment in the preceding play, and then the employments of the players apply to rights of the Shooters up to reaching the amount of bank. Same applies to the first play of the Shooters, if preceded the Shooter delivered the cubes voluntarily.
  • If the Shooter lost a straight play by a Crap throw and put a new bank, then first the employment of that player, who transacted the highest employment, and then the employments of the players apply to rights of the Shooters up to reaching the amount of bank.

Apart from the actual play the participants can lock among themselves most diverse Nebenwetten (Side bets), e.g. that in the next throw a certain eye number falls or does not fall that a certain eye number falls before sieving, or not, etc.

In the Casinospiel this Nebenwetten is set not by the players among themselves, but against the Casino (The House).

European Seven Eleven

Craps was the first cube play, which held introduction into the gaming house of Monte Carlo - cube plays were not considered long time as elegantly enough to the enterprise in a Casino.

In European Casinos a simplified variant under the name European Seven Eleven is often offered: with this play there is no Odds bets, no bets on Come and/or Don't come, no Buy bets, no Lay bets, the Place bets on 6 and 8 pays only even money - the straight bets most favorable for the player (the Odds bets and the Place bets on 6 and 8 with the ratio 7:6) are painted.

Card Craps

Since in some areas of the USA forbade the cube play, the pack of cards was however permitted, to Card Craps was invented. One uses for it the Asse, 2er, 3er, 4er, 5er and 6er of two (or also three) packages Spielkarten, i.e. one plays with 48 (or 72) maps. To the place of throwing two cubes uncovering two maps steps.

The same rules apply as with the play with cubes, with the play with maps give it as further possibilities still the doubles hard way bets: Here one sets on the fact that a certain straight eye number before sieving is obtained next by two identical maps (thus same value and same color). Thus for instance a bet on double hard 6 wins, if the 6 by one of the four possibilities (), () or one represents; the bet loses, if the eye sum 6 falls in any other way, or 7 appears.
