Cumulate (of lat. cumulus - accumulation) or is a term from the right to vote.

With certain elections a list (a party or combination) cannot only be selected, but also several (usually two or three) voices can be distributed on the candidates of this list, in order to determine within this list, which candidates the mandates won by the list to notice to be supposed. The more voices a candidate receives, becomes the higher its position in the list. Also several voices for a candidate can be delivered. This is cumulating strictly speaking. Beyond that also distributing several voices within a list cumulating is generally called.

If the voter marks a list, without giving its voices to explicitly determined candidates of this list, then these voices distribute themselves on the first places of the list. The voter trusts here in the sequence in the list, determined by the party or list combination, since with being correct equality this sequence is determining.

One calls a distributing of several voices on several lists Panaschieren.
