The classical Einarmige bandit is a mechanical play automat for gambling around coins. It is operated with a lever arm.

History and designations

It was invented in the year 1897 by the Bavarian machine-builder Charles August Fey, which had emigrated to California. The name is to signal that it pulls like a bandit the money to the user from the bag, as soon as one operates its arm (lever).
