Five card draw is the classical variant of the poker game.

Expiration of a hand

After the players transacted the fixed basic employment Ante, each player receives five maps with the Pokervariante 5-card draw. The remainder of the maps is put to a pile into the center (talon). Afterwards two rounds follow. Between the rounds the players can exchange their maps. To the two rounds it comes, if necessary, for the Showdown.

Map exchange

Between the two rounds maps are exchanged, i.e. each player knows maps of his hand covered placings and gets the same number of maps of the card deck by the giver. Often the number of the maps, which can be exchanged, is limited to three maps. A goal is it to receive as high a combination as possible (see table).

The maps exchanged by a player remain to the card deck on the table and are not added. Under any circumstances a player may not again take up put down maps.

If the number of remaining maps is not sufficient, in order to supply all players with new maps, up to the last map of the pile all maps are expenditure-divided, before afterwards all put down maps are in-collected, mixed and continued to spend. The last map of the pile is usually never expenditure-divided and mixed together with the put down maps.

Showdown

Still if two or more player are in the play after both rounds, the Showdown begins. The player, who began the employment in the last round or increased last, must present its hand (his combination). All players remained in the play can prove now successively their profit authorization and likewise uncover their maps. The player with the highest hand wins and receives the Pott. In case of of equal high combinations the Pott among the winners is divided.
