Josef "„Pepi "“Klinger (* 6 June 1967) is a Austrian chess large master and a professional Poker player.

Josef Klinger was the largest Austrian chess talent of the 80's. It reserved the third seat with the junior world championship 1985 and became in the same year of international masters. With the chess Olympiad 1986 in Dubai it obtained the secondarybest achievement of the players at the first board (behind Garry Kasparov). 1988 became Klinger the first Austrian large master after Karl Robatsch.

Klingers interest applied, as also with many chess players, for different plays. So it is to be recognized for example in Helmut Kraussers 1989 of developed narration play money easily as the Austrian chess large master Dingler, against which the I storyteller loses a considerable sum money in the Backgammon.

Center of the nineties terminated Klinger its promising chess career and became professional Poker player. Thus it won the Vienna for example in March 2003 surprisingly jumps festival ("€ 80,000, -)
