The Lotteriefonds is a fund, from which the governments of Swiss of cantons support different organizations from the range sport, culture and social work financially. It by those money, which are not paid off to the Lotto winners. The surplus of the common Lotterie that German-Swiss cantons is distributed after a distribution key to the kantonalen Lotteriefonds.

In all rule the money at receivers in the own canton is paid off, and the supports are unique. Contributions to the operating cost of an institution are not granted. In principle however everyone can place a request, for example around a contribution for the publication of a self-written novel.

In some cantons no regulations exist over it how the means are to be used - and it already happened the fact that for example tuning campaigns were financed from the Lotteriefonds or that the canton government paid a foreign trip from this fund. The expenditures of the Lotteriefonds do not appear in the official budget and/or the calculation of the canton - therefore this problem.

The cantons, which it Switzerland as only Lotterien operate may, rejected to today requests of Greenpeace and the WWF around the mechanism of their own Lotterie. One assumes that by a competitive situation incomes escape the cantons - finally for instance the culture management (tax) can save funds, if cultural projects with the funds of the Lotto players are paid.
