Lotto or Lotterie (French plumb bob "„portion, lot "“; Italian "„gambling, lot play "“) is a gambling, with which the player sets before against a financial employment on pulling tapped numbers from a limited number set.

Differences becomes thereby between two concepts. With active Lotterien the player selects a limited number of numbers from a finite Zahlenreihe. In Germany the German Lotto and Totoblock operate the Lotto play as union of the country Lotteriegesellschaften. One pulls each Wednesday and Saturday/Saturday. This can develop in principle in each of the 8 profit classes, if no profit were determined; however in class the 3 seems very rarely and in the classes to 4-8 practically never. The profit sum is then added the same profit class with the next drawing. By the Jackpot one understands the sum of the transfer of the previous lottery and the normal, expected profit sum, usually simplifying also only from the class the 1. An accurate determination of the height of the Jackpot is only possible because of the totalizer principle if the ratios are certain.

In addition some characteristics are to be considered. If a single gain in a lower profit class exceeds a higher profit class, then the profit sums are folded up and the profits on the two profit classes are distributed evenly.

In the profit class 2 if no profit is determined in particular, however in the profit class 1 at least one profit, then the sum of the profit class 2 of the profit class 1 is slammed shut.

After 14 following each other drawings in a profit class even if no profit is determined, then the profit sum is transferred to the next lower profit class.

Fixed these regulations by the way are in each Land of the Federal Republic in the conditions of participation for Lotto.

(Lotto is in Germany thing of the Lands of the Federal Republic. Commercial offerers often play in the sense of the betting pools at the Lotto companies, take for it however additional fees.)

Number Lotto in Austria

The number Lotto 1-90 was introduced 1752 under Maria Theresia and is thus oldest licensed gambling in Austria. Drawings are accomplished weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. With the number Lotto it can be selected between and five numbers whereby different kinds of play and also different profit heights are thus obtained. If one the correct numbers guess, then one wins a fixed sum; independently of other playing express takers.
