Paroli play one generally calls the increase of the employment after a profit in a gambling - contrary to the Martingale play, in which the employment is increased after a loss. The term comes from the Pharospiel, an old map luck play, from it leads itself the phrase "“someone Paroli offers"” off.

In Meyers encyclopedia of 1908 is explained as follows the term:

With Roulette the announcement Paroli means that the Croupier is to again set the profit Jetons apart from the original employment on the same chance. Thereby if the permissible maximum employment should be exceeded, the surplus sentence is rejected, and the player must communicate to the Croupier, how these Jetons are to be platzieren.
